Blog for January 24 and 26

Yay!! God willing, we will have two days of preschool this week!!

We are looking at oceans again this week. Today we made "rainbow fish" with sequins and playdoh, colored under sea scenes and then painted over them with watercolor paints to make them look underwater. We fished before we planned with a magnet and paper clip fish. Each fish had a number on it and we said that number before we planned to play. Most of us knew our numbers!!

Some KDIs we are looking at this week are-

Reading: Children read for pleasure and information.- We are learning about sea creatures and the beach and we are reading some fun, fiction books about sea creatures.

Natural and physical world: Children gather knowledge about the natural and physical world.- Investigating shells and listening to beach sounds, we are gaining knowledge about snails, clams, and sea stars and other creatures that live at the beach.

Jesus Time- We are hearing about the great catch of fish Jesus gave his disciples when he first called Andrew, Peter, James and John to be his disciples. They had been fishing all night, he sent them out again and they caught so many fish that their nets began to break and their boats began to sink! Jesus then asked them to be fishers of people. They left their nets and followed him!

Books of the Week- "On the Beach" by Alastair Smith and Laura Howell, "Fishes" by Brian Wildsmith and "Hooray for Fish!" by Lucy Cousins.

Have a great week! February show and tell calendar is headed your way!
