Blog for January 19

So glad we got to meet today!

We had a great time discovering things about oceans! We looked at shells and painted some, played with water animals in water, read books about fish and did some ocean themed yoga.

Some KDIs we are concentrating on this week are-

Emotions: Children recognize, label, and regulate their feelings.- As we move towards our 4th birthdays, we need to use our words more to explain ourselves and what we are feeling instead of whining or shoving. We are working on this and some are really good at doing it, others need more practice!

Gross-motor skills: Children demonstrate strength, flexibility, balance, and timing in using their large muscles.- We used our bodies to be crabs, seahorses, lobsters, whales and other sea creatures.

Patterns: Children identify, describe, copy, complete, and create patterns.- Working hard on our complicated calendar pattern for this month.

Jesus Time- This week our story was about Jesus baptism and how it began his public ministry where he told who he was and what he was here for- to be our Savior. The children practiced the verse, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world."

Books of the week- "Somewhere in the Ocean" by Jennifer Ward and T.J. Marsh, and "The Rainbow Fish" by Marcus Pfister.

Because we only had one day this week, we are still going to be learning about oceans next week.

Have a terrific week!
Mrs. Schneck
