Blog for May 9 and 11

Windy, windy, windy!
We are talking about wind this week!

Table activities include decorating paper to make a pinwheel, blow painting, bubble painting, and making kites.

KDIs we are focusing on this week are-

Experimenting: Children experiment to test their ideas.- Today we looked at a variety of objects and made guesses whether or not we would be able to move them by blowing them. Then we tested our guesses. Then we tried to figure out why things worked out the way they did.

Moral development: Children develop an internal sense of right and wrong- We have been talking about good ideas and bad ideas, helping our friends to do the right thing, not tempting them to do wrong, etc.

Jesus Time- Jesus ascended into heaven in last week's story. This week we see the disciples waiting in Jerusalem, just like Jesus told them to. They heard the sound of a loud wind and saw little tongues of fire on each other's heads. They had received the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gave them the ability to speak in other languages so that the visitors to Jerusalem could hear about Jesus that day. We call that day Pentecost because it happened 50 days after Jesus rose from the dead. The Holy Spirit gave the disciples the courage and the ability to carry out the work Jesus had given them- to tell the whole world about him! We know about Jesus today because they told people long ago and the Holy Spirit inspired men to write down God's Word in the Bible! Now we can go and tell!

Books for the Week- We have a some "Mom" books this week, since it is Mother's Day on Sunday!
"Safe in a Storm" by Stephen Swinburne, "Does a Kangaroo Have a Mother Too?" by Eric Carle and "Mama, Do You Love Me? " by Barbara M. Joosse.

Three year olds are invited to join us here tomorrow from 9:30-10:30 for the Reptile/Amphibian Encounter presented by Nankin Mills!! I look forward to seeing you then!

Have a super week!
Mrs. Schneck
