Getting a little nature!

Image result for kids and nature

This week we spent our one day of school looking at nature and tomorrow on the field trip to Maybury farms, we will be doing the program "Forest and Field" so we'll get to spend more time outside. Please remember to wear close toed shoes for our visit to this working farm!

Table activities this morning were building with and painting with nature.

Our small group activity was making a picture out of nature.

Our KDI for the week is-
Natural and physical world: Children gather knowledge

about the natural and physical world. - We are looking at nature around us!

Jesus Time-
We skipped ahead several years and today we heard the story of baby Moses. A Pharaoh came into power who did not know the stories of Joseph and what he had done for Egypt. He just saw a foreign people grow more and more numerous and he began to be afraid that they were going to overpower the Egyptians. So he came up with a horrible plan. When the Egyptian midwives came to help the Israelite ladies give birth, if it was a boy, they would throw the baby into the Nile river to drown. One Israelite mother didn't want that to happen to her son, so she hid the baby until he was several months old. She then made a basket boat and sent her little one afloat with his older sister watching. An Egyptian princess was bathing in the river and saw the basket and heard the crying and asked one of her maids to fetch the basket for her. When she uncovered the baby, she wanted to keep it. The baby's older sister appeared and asked if she needed someone to nurse the baby and went and got the baby's own mother. That baby was Moses and he grew up to be the one who would lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt.

Books of the week- "In a Small, Small Pond" and "Once There Was a Wood" both by Denise Fleming and "Swirl by Swirl:Spirals in Nature" by Joyce Sidmon.

Have a super week and enjoy the lovely weather!

Here is the information about tomorrow's field trip in case you need it!

On Tuesday, October 8th, Peace Lutheran Preschool will be going to Maybury Farms. While we are there, we will be have the Fields and Forests program along with a wagon ride. The cost is $9 per person, including chaperones, but not including little siblings. Our tour begins at 10am, but they ask that we be there at 9:45.

Following the tour, the barns, paddocks, playground and picnic area will be open, if you’d like to bring a lunch.

Maybury Farms is located at 50165 8 Mile Rd. Northville, MI. The entrance is not inside the State Park, but close. I’ve heard it is tricky, so watch carefully for it! We will meet at the Welcome Center. It is a working farm, so no open-toed shoes. We will also be outside pretty much the whole time, so watch the weather and dress accordingly!
